   We have recreated the Canada Hats that the 4th wore during 1861-1862. Here's a picture of one of the soldier's wearing his for a portrait.

Shot in the throat at Malvern Hill, Va..  Died instantly.

Colonel Woodbury was trying to rally Union Troops that were retreating through the 4th Michigan Infantry.

The 4th Michigan was lying down to avoid the curtain of Confederate lead. Colonel Woodbury stood up to rally the retreating troops and was shot almost instantly.

Because of his knowledge and will to fight Colonel Woodbury was on his way to become a very successful officer in the Union Army. At the time of his death McClellan was talking about giving him  brigade command
